February 2025 is going to be all about music, and adding to excitement is the India International Music Week (IIMW) 2025. Organised by the India Music Exchange (IMX), this event will take place in Goa from February 4 to 6 for an unforgettable celebration.
The 3-day global music trade conference and music showcase festival will bring together artistes and music industry professionals from over 30 countries, including record labels, event promoters, industry trailblazers and music enthusiasts.
Among the performers at the event are two of Goa’s well known artistes – rapper-hip-hop Nathan Mendes, aka Tsumyoki, who blends modern hip-hop with unique cultural influences, and the group Roz Angon which reimagines 1960s-70s Konkani pop and film tunes with nostalgic warmth.
Blending horns, psychedelic guitars and contemporary drums – Roz Angon bridges tradition and modern sound, celebrating Goa’s heritage and reflecting on its evolving identity.
While India Music Exchange's overarching objective of establishing India as a trade hub for the global music industry stays as a constant, we aim to have highlighted the musical and cultural diversity of India to the global music industry.
Rafael Pereira, Festival directors
Festival directors Rafael Pereira and Sushil Chhugani, India International Music Week, said that the objective of the event is to highlight the musical and cultural diversity of India to the global music industry.
“While IMX's overarching objective of establishing India as a trade hub for the global music industry stays as a constant, we aim to highlight the musical and cultural diversity of India to the global music industry,” says Rafael.
For Sushil, the goal is to enable and facilitate tourism through events like IIMW and highlight the potential of music tourism. "We are moving in this direction and will stay on the path for a long time to come till this objective is achieved."
Among the performers, are two of Goa’s well known artistes – rapper-hip-hop Nathan Mendes AKA Tsumyoki and Roz Angon.
The journey begins on February 4 with IIMW 2025 at the Rockpool-W Goa in Vagator presenting performances by Asian Electronica pioneer Talvin Singh, Shillong-based Blues/R&B songstress Tipriti Kharbangar and Goa’s own favourite, Roz Angon.
Neil Gomes of Roz Angon said it will be great to represent Goa, showcase the music written in the 1960s and take Goan music to the world. “I wanted to connect to my roots and over the years have collaborated with music outside of Goa or India. We did a few gigs in Goa and have reconstructed sounds of the 1960s. This festival will give us a platform to showcase our talent,” says Neil.
Whether you're an artiste, industry professional or music enthusiast, these sessions promise insights into the evolving music landscape. Attendees can engage with IIMW 2025’s trade conference, panel discussions and networking opportunities at The Westin Goa, Anjuna.
The ensemble promises a night to remember as emerging artists from India and the world will perform at Echo, Vagator, creating a dynamic setting to experience world-class performances. These are followed by late-night indoor showcases at indoor venue Vamos, Vagator offering an intimate, urban vibe for a more personal connection with music.
