Comedian Sally’s new monsoon tiatr, Kazaracho Chudo, is a family melodrama, throwing light on the relationship between siblings, ingratitude and its dire consequences.
The new trend in today’s tiatrs is to carry less content of the story, and provide a big dose of comedy.
ABOUT THE TIATR
The story in Kazaracho Chudo revolves around three siblings, the eldest (Pascoal Rodrigues) working in the electricity department, Ria (Roma) and Rolan (Franky Gonsalves), who is studying computer engineering.
While at work, due to a mishap, the eldest loses his hand, but is compensated and he decides to get his only sister married.
But, pondering about the financial crisis at home, Ria decides to support her younger brother financially and paves her way to the Gulf. Initially, Rolan has a lot of affection towards his sister Ria and she never fails to tie a rakhi as an expression of brotherly love towards her.
After Ria goes abroad, instead of focusing on his studies and career, Rolan gets entangled with Melanie (Antonette de Maina), whose father is a businessman and works abroad.
So as to win Melanie’s heart by hook or by crook, Rolan creates fake stories to win her over. Melanie trusts Rolan and they finally decide to tie the knot.
After facing humiliation and insults from her employer (Joylita) abroad, Ria decides to return home. Meanwhile, Rolan walks away with the compensation received by his elder brother under the pretext of studying further.
When Ria comes in search of her brother Rolan in order to tie the rakhi, what does she receive in return? And, when the eldest brother comes in search of his sister, what awaits him at Rolan’s new residence?
BEHIND THE SCENES
All the artistes have given fine performances on stage. Pascoal Rodrigues, Roma and Franky have done justice to their respective roles as siblings.
Antonette de Maina steps into the family as a spouse and sister-in-law. Mario is seen in a dual role and Joylita makes a cameo.
For some comedy on stage, there’s Sally taking along with him Richard, David, Myron and Samica and they entertain, but vulgarity continues.
There’s also one comic scene depicting one of the ministers and the likes of Remo Fernandes and Lorna. However, it is sad to note that the legend of the Konkani stage is insulted and disrespected.
Vulgarity in comedy needs to be curbed before it gets out of hand as many spectators bring their children along to watch the show. Our senior artistes always dressed decently and entertained to the maximum on stage, without any indecency, be in dress code or dialogues.
Among the renditions, Jr Reagan hops on the stage for the opening song, followed by solos from Joylita, Myron, Lawry Travasso and Pascoal Rodrigues.
A political solo by Saby de Divar and another political song by Joylita, Antonette de Maina and Roma, David/Joylita and Lawry/Saby de Divar receive encores. A quartet went amiss in the presentation.
Macroy and his musical team of Nazareth (saxophone), Arif (keyboard), Manuel (drums) and Siban (bass) have provided good live music, while Arif also assists with the background music.
The stage sets are by Anthony de Ambaji and Romeo has handled the lights.
