The Dogears Bookshop, Margao, is organising a ‘Meet the Author’ session with author, former politician, and champion of Indian crafts, Jaya Jaitly, on August 19, 2023.
Jaitly has long been dedicated to India's traditional crafts and helped discover sustainable markets, while also playing a major role in safeguarding the nation’s rich culture and heritage.
This dedication and commitment is seen in her book, The Crafts Atlas of India, which pays homage to the artistry behind India’s vibrant crafts.
Apart from that, she is also an advocate for the sari, which is an important part of India’s rich culture. Her other books include Woven Textiles of Varanasi and three children’s books connected with indigenous art forms, among others.
During the session at The Dogears Bookshop, Jaitly will discuss her many books and her engagement with various craft forms.
