‘Pustokachem Fest’ will be celebrated for the first time at the Pilerne Thursday Heritage Market (PTHM) on Thursday, April 27, 2023, from 5 pm to 9 pm.

This time around, the focus of the fest will be The Collected Works of Joseph Furtado, which will be released by DogEars Bookshop, Margao. Joseph Furtado was a noted Goan poet from Furtadovaddo, in Pilerne.

Veteran publishers from DogEars Bookshop, Leonard and Queenie, will give a presentation on books and reading, especially for today’s generation which is more inclined towards social media rather than books.

As part of the event, there will be poetry and story readings from different authors and poets, while an illustrated children’s story will be projected onscreen.

Live music, Konkani community singing and dancing will be part of the cultural fiesta.

Apart from books by local stores, health foods, artwork, handicrafts, embroidery, soaps, candles, handicrafts, plants etc will be on sale. Other attractions include a jumble sale and an Economy Gift counter.

The Food Court will serve food cooked in local village kitchens, from delicious traditional Goan snacks to authentic local cuisine to sweets.

PTHM is inclusive and strives to be a zero waste event. Single Use Plastics (SUPs) and disposables are banned, and visitors are encouraged to bring their own plates and cutlery.
