The Cinephile Film Club of the ESG will host a special tribute to Lata Mangeshkar on June 2, 2022, in remembrance of India’s nightingale. The event will be held at 6.15pm at Auditorium 1, Maquinez Palace, Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), Panjim.
The program will have over 100 video and audio snippets of songs of the singer. And, music aficionados from across the country will talk about background stories, anecdotes, and trivia of iconic songs, and trace the journey of Lata Mangeshkar through her songs.
Pavan Jha, Archisman Mozumder and Dr Chandrashekhar Rao, will be in conversation with film critic and moderator, Sachin Chatte.
Pavan Jha from Jaipur, is a well-known personality in the music industry. He has published a book on the History of Hindi film music, Meel Ke Patthar – Hindi Film Sangeet Ka Safar. He is also associated with the BBC for contemporary film music.
An avid music listener, Mozumder runs a Youtube channel that features several popular and rare musical gems. Lata Mangeshkar herself made references to this channel. He also conducts several online and offline Guided Listening Sessions with a Group named, REWIND.
The other participant for the event will be Dr Chandrashekhar Rao, a dermatologist by profession, but music remains his biggest passion. His interest lies in quizzes, music and writing. He dabbles playing the accordion and is a passionate collector of books and vinyls. Over the past decades, he has met and interviewed such luminaries as Pandit Ravi Shankar, Anil Biswas, Salil Choudhury, Laxmikant, Pyarelal, Anandji, Manna Dey, Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle, among others.
