Themes and subject

Meenakshi Sengupta who lives in Kolkata works on appropriating a variety of familiar motifs from both Indian and Western pictorial tradition. She tries to re-contextualize them in the light of contemporary concerns. While Karine Rougier, Marseille-based artist takes her inspiration from multiple universes. She has developed a practice of oil painting on wood and drawing. She gives a new meaning to the images and stories she finds around her. She then tries to reinterpretation these and create a mystical world.
