NOMAD GAO: A NEW CO-WORKATION CONCEPT IN ANJUNA

One location to consider for your co-workation is Nomad Gao, located in Anjuna, Goa.

Mayur Sontakke, the founder of the property, shares insights about what makes this place an ideal co-workation spot.

INSPIRATION BEHIND NOMAD GAO

Mayur explains how Nomad Gao came to be – an idea inspired by not just the convenience of working on the go, but also the ability to experience Goa.

“I’ve been working remotely since 2014, and the following year, I became a digital nomad," he shares.

"I travelled extensively across India and Southeast Asia, and realised that there were very few spaces in India that catered to this culture. I wanted to create a space for people who travel and work remotely, allowing them to explore both the world and the beauty of Goa,” he adds.

Mayur’s vision grew from his experience of organising retreats in India, aiming to bring foreign travellers to the country.

This initiative eventually led to Goa Tourism approaching him to help draft a policy that would position Goa as a digital nomad destination. And so, coupled with Goa’s beautiful locations, excellent food, and more, Nomad Gao was born.

WORK-FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT

At Nomad Gao, you’ll find a work-friendly environment, unlike some of the typical stays in Goa.

“We offer good seating areas, projectors for virtual meetings, meeting rooms, call rooms and super-fast Wi-Fi with multiple routers. Our spaces are designed for deep, focused work as well as creative activities,” says Mayur as he elaborates on the facilities available at the space.

Additionally, there’s a small cafe on-site where you can grab a bite or enjoy a coffee. Those who prefer cooking can make use of the shared kitchen.

For those who need solitude, Nomad Gao offers comfortable private rooms with a desk and chair, ideal for focused work. At the same time, the property provides common areas for guests who wish to socialise when they’re not working.

BALANCING WORK AND RECREATION

What sets Nomad Gao apart is its focus on balancing work and recreation.

On how they go about achieving this, Mayur shares, “Organising activities like board game nights, movie screenings, karaoke, bar hopping, and heritage walks helps guests maintain a healthy work-life balance.”

This is especially appealing to people who live in fast-paced cities like Bangalore, where the constant hustle and bustle and traffic can be exhausting.

LEARNING WITH NOMADIC CONNECT

Another unique feature of Nomad Gao is the Nomadic Connect initiative.

This program invites individuals with specific skills to host talks, encouraging guests to learn something new. Topics vary, making it a great opportunity for guests to expand their knowledge while working remotely.

GROWING COMMUNITY OF REMOTE WORKERS

The property now hosts a diverse mix of guests, including domestic tourists and foreigners. Initially, Nomad Gao catered mainly to foreign travellers, starting with just four rooms.

However, after the Covid-19 pandemic, the property’s audience expanded to include more domestic travellers. Mayur notes that this change has made Nomad Gao an ideal spot for team bonding since it offers a harmonious balance between work, recreation, and socialising with fellow remote workers from around the world.

FLEXIBLE DURATION OF STAY

At Nomad Gao, you’ll find flexibility in the duration of your stay. Guests can book long-term leases, short-term stays, or even just a couple of days, depending on their work and personal preferences.

Nomad Gao offers more than just a place to stay in Goa – it provides a community and an ideal environment for remote workers to thrive.

Whether you’re looking for a quiet space to work, opportunities to socialise, or ways to explore Goa’s rich culture, this co-workation destination is a perfect fit for those seeking balance, productivity and relaxation.
