Harp carols and pop ups to check out this weekend in Goa
Christmas is just a couple of weeks away, and for those of you who are already in a Christmassy mood, here are some events to check out – festive pop ups, and a concert of Christmas carols, played on a harp.
CAROLS ON A HARP CONCERT
The Saligao Institute, Saligao, is hosting a concert, ‘Xmas Carols on the Harp’, performed by Daniel Dias on December 16, 2023.
Daniel was born and brought up in Mumbai, but has roots in Merces and Chinchinim in Goa.
His musical journey started at the tender age of five, when he learnt to play the violin. In 2018, he took up the harp under the baton of noted harpist, Meagan Pandian.
In 2019, academic pursuits beckoned, and he shifted to Guwahati, where he studied at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati. This academic commitment resulted in a four-year music hiatus. However, he has now returned to the musical realm after graduating this year.
Daniel also plays the violin with the Bombay Chamber Orchestra, and has performed at several renowned venues like the NCPA. He currently works as a VR designer.

XMAS POP UP MARKETS
Christmas pop up markets are great places to stumble on some unique finds. Here are a few to check out towards the end of this week.
CHRISTMAS BAZAAR
Taleigao parish is organising ‘Christmas Bazaar Taleigao 2023’ on December 16, 17 and 18. The pop up market will be held at the St Michael Church Square, Taleigao.
There will be stalls selling a variety of handmade items such as home décor items, artificial jewellery, festive sweets, food, etc. And, for the entertainment of the visitors, there will be carol singing, Santa Claus, prizes and live music.

CHRISTMAS EXTRAVAGANZA
The Rotary Club of Miramar, in association with Tarang Women Entrepreneurs, presents Christmas Extravaganza which will include not just stalls, but games, workshops, competitions, dancing, talent shows, entertainment and activities for kids and adults.
