Fundacao Oriente Goa in association with the Heritage Cell of Rosary College, Navelim, is organising the 25th edition of ‘Vem Cantar’, Portuguese singing contest.
The contest will have junior and senior categories of solos and duets.
Entry forms, rules and regulations are available at Rosary College (Navelim) and Fundação Oriente, (Panjim).
The last date to submit entry forms and videos is August 31, 2023.
SOME BACKGROUND
The Vem Cantar contest had its origins in the Heritage Cell of Rosary College of Commerce & Arts, Navelim, in 1998, and has grown since then.
Several bodies are associated with the event, including Semana da Cultura Indo-Portuguesa, Clube Harmonia de Margão, Centro de Língua Portuguesa – Instituto Camões, Cidade de Goa, Consulate General of Portugal (Consulado Geral de Portugal), V. M. Salgaocar Institute of International Hospitality Education (VMSIIHE) and de Souza Group among others.
Many of the past winners of contest have gone on to become well known names in Goa's music circles. For example, Sonia Shirsat, Nadia Rebelo, Franz Schubert Cotta, Orlando de Noronha, Carlos Meneses, Siddharth Cota, Selwyn Menezes and Victor da Costa.
