Raksha Bandhan is just around the corner, and this time brings in sweet memories and moments spent with siblings. From innocent fights to protecting and backing each other, being a personal sidekick, some bonds are forever.
Goa is the perfect place to celebrate this sibling love. From discounts to special offers, Goa has a wide variety of things to do this Raksha Bandhan.
THE PERFECT LONG WEEKEND
Being a long weekend, Goa is the perfect choice for siblings to get together and celebrate the love and create memories with each other. And this is what Mansi Deshpande, her husband, her brother Manohar, and his wife have decided. The long weekend meant a short Goa trip, where they get to spend time with their spouses, and siblings too.
We try to go out for dinners mostly when we are in Pune, but it’s not the same when you are on vacation. So we decided to come to Goa on Friday night, and return on 20th back to Pune.
Mansi Deshpande, from Pune
Sitting at a café in Colva, Mansi said she decided to come to Goa to chill and make memories. "We try to go out for dinners, when we are in Pune, but it’s not the same when you are on vacation. So, we decided to come to Goa on Friday night, and return on (August) 20,” says Mansi. To this, her brother Manoj added, “Since it’s a long weekend, we get to celebrate the festivities together and it is also a couple’s holiday."
Being a continuation of the Independence Day week, many restaurants, cafes, resorts and spas are hosting and offering discounts and schemes for Raksha Bandhan too.
And if you want to compete with your sibling, this time, you can try your skill at BakeHub, based in Borchem Bhat, in Taleigao. Here, you can wrestle to win calzones for a month, on every order.
"There is a catch here; the two siblings have to gobble an entire 12-inch spicy pizza in two minute and 30 seconds. If you can, you'll win calzones on your next order. We have seen competitions on chicken wings, and steaks but not pizzas. Hence, this is a life-skill that the ones with siblings have learnt,” laughs Aditya Tambe of BakeHub.
Nikhil Zaveri of Café Basil too has an offer on their items, but this time for only women. “We are planning to give a 10 per cent discount on the bills of only sisters,” says Nikhil.
WORKOUT TOGETHER
Workout is extremely important this Raksha Bandhan. I’s time to get fit with your sibling. “We have noticed that a lot of people workout with their husbands, partners, bride-to-be or groom-to–be, but rarely do you see brothers and sisters working out together,” says Abhilash Singh, owner and instructor of Ignite Studio Pilates and Fitness at Porvorim.
He adds, “We have planned that this Raksha Bandhan, siblings should bond through exercising and strengthening their bodies with two free pilates sessions.”
