This Thursday, May, 4, 2023, watch these 5 short films from the Critics’ Choice Awards, at the Maquinez Palace, Old GMC Complex, Panjim.
The Cinephile Film Club in association with the Film Critics Guild, will screen these films, which have been directed by well-known names like Devashish Makhija and Varun Grover, along with some talented young filmmakers.
The films will be introduced by member of the Film Critics Guild and curator of the Cinephile Film Club, Sachin Chatte. These acclaimed films have made it to several festivals around the globe and will present a unique opportunity for film lovers in Goa to catch them on the big screen.
Here are the 5 films that will be screened:
1. Bittu (17 mins duration & directed by Karishma Dube)
Bittu is based on the true story of two little girls (10 and 8 years old), and an accidental poisoning in school. The film made it to the Oscar shortlist.
2. 7 Star Dinosor Entertainment (19 mins duration & directed by Vaishali Naik)
This is a film about two brothers, Sudhir and Vinod, who perform as 'dinosaurs' at weddings and parties. The film won the Best Director and Best Writing award at the Critics Choice Awards.
3. Cycle (19 mins duration & directed by Devashish Makhija)
A film that has made waves at several festivals around the globe, Cycle is about a tribal woman who has been wronged.
4. Kiss (16 mins duration & directed by Varun Grover)
Scriptwriter, lyricist and standup comedian, Varun Grover's film is a very sensitive take, shot in an art deco theatre, about our sensibilities and perception.
5. The Silent Echo (16 mins duration & directed by Suman Sen)
This heart-melting film is about 4 kids who live in the mountains and wish to compete in a music competition. Shot in the most picturesque surroundings, the film was the winner of the Best Short Film and Best Cinematography awards, at the recent Critics Choice Awards.
