Verna-based Putzmeister Concrete Machines Pvt Ltd has signed a memorandum of understanding with Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (DSDE) to upgrade the in-demand ‘Welding Trait’ at some of the ITIs.
The first state-of-the-art infrastructure will be piloted at ITI Panjim and then based on the results, ITI Bicholim and Vasco will be taken up.
This is first of its kind public-private partnership to holistically modernize ITI in Goa and focus on the growing demand for 'Welding Trait'.
The MOU was signed in presence of Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, Dr Gururaj, Principal Advisor to Goa CSR Authority, Kanjanabha Bhattacharya - MD Putzmeister, Kishore Shah, Managing Trustee GDP Foundation; CA Sandesh Prabhukhanolkar, Trustee (CSR Advisors to Putzmeister), Rachit Arora, Head Finance (Putzmeister), S S Gaonkar, Director DSDE and Bhushan Sawaiker, Director DHE.
The event was held at Government College, Sankhali, on January 8, 2024. Sawant appreciated the partnering from the industry and said that this was a leap towards making Goa Atmanirbhar and Swayampurna.
The study project on upgrade of Welding Trait, which was designed by GDP Foundation, the CSR advisors to Putzmeister, at the three ITIs, was also launched at the hands of the Chief Minister.
This study project surveyed all the three ITIs to understand the existing infrastructure, expertise, students, curriculum and mapped it with both existing and emerging demands in Goa and outside and then a triad team, which had experts from Putzmeister, recommended changes in the curriculum.
The entire programme investment is about Rs 30 lakh, which will be realised in three stages.
Swapnil from ITI Training Division, Allen Diniz (Putzmeister) and Rajesh Lolayekar Project Manager DSDE will oversee the execution of the modernised infrastructure at ITI Panjim.
The modernised infrastructure is expected to be ready for inauguration by January 31, 2024, and the first batch of 20 students passing out in June 24, 2024, will undergo the advance course. The meritorious students will be absorbed by Putzmeister subject to the demand and requirement at the plant in Goa or elsewhere.
