Ahead of next month's Goa Assembly Polls, BJP leader and sitting Mandrem MLA Dayanand Sopte is distributing Bhagavad Gita as part of the election campaign.
On Tuesday, Sopte organised an event to distribute Bhagavad Gita to Hindu households in 9 Panchayat of the constituency including Querim, Paliem, Arambol, Mandrem, Morjim, Agarwada, Parcem, Tuem and Virnoda.
When asked about this unique campaign, Sopte this initiative was taken to preserve our culture and traditions.
Although BJP has not declared the candidates for Mandrem, Sopte said that he has been advised to campaign with party workers as he will contest from Mandrem on BJP's ticket.
Sopte said that unemployment and water issues are some of the big issues of his constituency and he will address them.
He further said as the code of conduct has kicked in, the site digging for a new water project in Tuem was cancelled. He assured that the project would be set up immediately after the elections.
He also appealed to the people not to believe the rumours being spread against by opposition through various channels as "the sand under the feet of the opposition is slipping."
