Former Tourism Minister Francisco 'Mickky' Pacheco on Monday quit Congress party after he was denied ticket from Velim to embrace the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), his former party that he had quit in 2011, ahead of the Goa Assembly elections.

NCP state president Jose Philip D'Souza inducted into the party along with former Congress leader Shankar Phadte.

In 2011, Mickey had resigned as an MLA and quit NCP, claiming that he was fed with Congress corrupt regime. In August last year, he joined the Congress in a hope that the party would pick him as its candidate from Benaulim.

Mickey is most likely to contest from Nuvem constituency where he had won in 2012 and lost in 2017.

NCP state chief Jose Philip D'Souza said more leaders will be joining NCP in the coming days including former Minister Filipe Neri Rodrigues. "We will field candidates in 12 places in Goa," D'Souza said.
