Art and Culture Minister and Priol Independent MLA Govind Gaude is all set to resign from the membership of the Assembly on Tuesday, January 11. He will join BJP in the evening, ahead of 2022 Goa Assembly elections.
"I have been in talks with my supporters and workers for the past one week. They have told me that they will support my decision and urged me to join BJP," Gaude told reporters.
"Apart from Priol, I also want to start working for other constituency and that's why I am joining BJP," he added
However, BJP party workers from Priol have strongly opposed the entry of Gaude into the party. BJP Priol Mandal has demanded a ticket for Sandip Nigalye.
In the 2017 Assembly elections, BJP had supported Gaude to defeat MGP.
