With Goa's assembly elections just few days away, renowned Konkani director, producer and Tiatrist Tony Dias resigned from Trinamool Congress (TMC) and rejoined the Congress party on Tuesday, January 18.

He joined the party in the presence of Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat, former minister Francisco (Mickky) Pacheco and South District President Joe Dias.

Addressing the media Tony said that he had joined the Trinamool Party in the hope that it would bring about change in Goa but the party was filled with "politicians with criminal background like Churchill Alemao".

Dias came down heavily on his own party leadership, claiming that he was promised the Benaulim ticket by the TMC in the month of October much before Alemao joined.

Digambar Kamat said TMC has no base in Goa and everyone is leaving the party. " They should not be under the illusion that Goan voters will run after him as he has announced to give something for free," he said.
