3 UK returnees' Covid samples test negative for Omicron

Three persons, including a British national, found positive for Covid-19 on arrival in Goa from the United Kingdom on Friday, December 10, have tested negative for Omicron, said Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Saturday.

Goa's three omicron suspects who were awaiting results of genome sequencing from the National Centre for Cell Science (NCCS), Pune were all asymptomatic.

They have been discharged from isolation at Cansaulim PHC and will continue to be in-home isolation.

With this, Goa's omicron suspects are now down to five.

Earlier, four passengers from the UK, who arrived on Friday, December 17, had tested positive for Covid-19. They were transferred to the Cansaulim PHC for observation and their samples were sent to genome sequencing. Reports of their samples sent for Genomic sequencing are awaited.

Meanwhile, Goa reported 43 new Covid cases and zero deaths on Saturday. The state's active caseload is now 389.
