The nation-wide Bharat Bandh failed to live to its fullest potential in Goa on Monday.

The 'Akhila Bharat Bandh’ call given by Samyukta Kisan Morcha did not have much impact on the movement of vehicles and people in Goa.

The majority of the business establishments, including hotels, regular shops, remained open. In Panaji, the bandh call evoked poor responses just like other towns in the coastal state. Mapusa, Margao and Bicholim too saw little impact from the Bandh. However, few protests were staged outside some industrial estates and mining companies.

Private buses, taxis and autorickshaws were operating as usual. KTC buses were plying normally in the morning.

All the government offices and banks functioned normally. “Banks in the state have not stopped operating. Banks are functioning. But the Bank Employees' Union's has given Bharat Bandla moral support,” Subhash Naik George, President, Bank Employees Union.
