Five-time MLA and former Chief Minister Churchill Alemao on Tuesday, December 29, demanded an immediate end to the ongoing Sunburn Music Festival in Vagator to control the increasing number of Covid cases in Goa.

There has been a increase in the number of Coronavirus disease cases in Goa. On December 28, state reported 112 fresh cases which is the highest since September 30 when 113 new cases were reported.

Churchill has urged Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to intervene and take measures to stop the further spread of Covid. He also demands to seal Goa border to bring the situation under control.

Meanwhile. North Goa Congress president Vijay Bhike has also slammed Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for allowing the Sunburn to go ahead amdist rising Omicron fears. He also demanded that the state begin to strictly enforce mandatory protocol measures including party zones and that those falling to enforce them should be punished.

Chief minister on November 24 had announced that the government has refused permission to host the annual Sunburn Festival in 2021.

Later the event management company, announced that under the advice from the Government of Goa, decided to not pursue a mega festival, but hold it in a smaller limited capacity at Vagator.
