CURCHOREM: Quepem MLA and Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar on Friday inaugurated the work of construction of gutters, retaining wall, hot mixing and road widening work worth Rs 2.60 crores at Padamol, Deumoll and Igramoll in Quepem constituency.

Quepem Municipal Council vice-chairperson Chetan Haldankar, councillor Luiza Carvalho, Paulo Fernandes, ex-chairperson Caitaninha (Catty) Fernandes, Piety Fernandes, assistant engineer Sawpnil Naik and junior engineer Rohan Dessai were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Kavlekar said that the new bus stand will be constructed at Karali on Quepem-Margao road along with a building where a cinema theatre is planned. "Besides bus stand a new building for police station has been proposed as the condition of Quepem police station is in poor as it was build during Portuguese era," said Kavlekar and added that this year for the first time a government sponsored Carnival will be celebrated in Quepem town on February 23.

Meanwhile, Kavlekar distributed Griha Adhhar sanction orders to 504 beneficiaries from Quepem constituency during the function held at Quepem Municipal hall recently in the presence of chairperson Dayesh Naik, Avedem sarpanch Alleluia Alphonso, Ambaulim sarpanch Jacinta Dias, Fatorpa deputy sarpanch Sanzil D'Costa, councillors, panch members and others.
