Goa sees slight drop in new Covid-19 cases

Goa on Monday, January 17, witnessed a decline in its daily Covid-19 cases, reporting 2,174 new cases of Coronavirus infections during the last 24 hours.

As per the bulletin provided by the health department, the positivity rate for the day mounted to 41.52 per cent. Goa's active case tally has reached 21,957. As many as 31 people were hospitalized and 24 were discharged in the 24 hours.

With six deaths reported on Monday, the fatality count has increased to 3,563. One patient was brought dead to the district hospital in Mapusa.

A total of 5236 samples were tested during the last 24 hours while 1592 people were recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the recovery rate to 88 per cent.

On the vaccination front, around 96 per cent of Goa's population has been fully vaccinated. As many as 3, 947 people were vaccinated on Monday.

On Sunday, Bicholim MLA and speaker Rajesh Patnekar tested positive for Covid-19. He is admitted to GMC.
