India Meteorological Department (IMD) has projected a possibility of marginal heat wave conditions over Goa on Monday.

IMD has attribute the reason to the advection of warmer temperature in the lower levels of atmosphere over Goa, and because of the strengthening of easterly winds.

The maximum temperature over Goa is likely to remain around 4°C higher than normal on March 14, leading to the possibility of heat wave conditions over Goa.

On Sunday, Goa recorded a high maximum temperature of 37.4 degree Celsius, a 5.1 degree higher than the usual normal temperature, while in Mormugao, the maximum temperature was 5.3 higher than the usual normal temperature.

IMD has advised people to stay hydrated, avoid heat exposure, wear lightweight, light coloured, loose, cotton clothes and cover the head by using a cloth, hat or umbrella.

IMD officials have also advised people to take frequents breaks while working outdoors.

The possible impact of above normal temperature conditions can lead to a moderate heath concern for vulnerable people including infants, elderly and people with chronic diseases.
