Former Congressman Digambar Kamat claimed all is not well in the Congress party and that's the reason eight of them decided to join the BJP to strengthen and support the vision of the saffron party to develop the state.

The former leader of the opposition and a seniormost politician cited the example of former Congress national leader Gulam Nabi Azad who recently submitted his resignation.

The contents of the letter give a clear picture of the situation within the Congress party, Kamat added.

He was all praise for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, claiming that during his tenure Indians all over the world had gained respect and India has now reached a point where it is on the way to becoming a superpower.

The great betrayal again: 8 Cong MLAs leave Cong to join BJP

He further added that his supporters from Margao also want to see development. It was after considering their opinion that he took a decision to join the BJP and support the cause of CM Sawant to develop and strengthen Goa.

At the Assembly complex, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, who addressed the media, announced that the eight Congress MLAs had joined the BJP on Wednesday.

He said proper procedure to induct these Congressmen into the BJP will be followed shortly.

The CM said, “I welcome all these eight MLAs who have supported and joined the vision of PM Narendra Modi to develop India and Goa. I assert that the support of these eight legislators will prove beneficial to the development of the state.”
