The new cable-stayed Zuari Bridge is likely to open to traffic by the middle of December this year. Miscellaneous work related to road asphalting, the expansion link, barricading, illumination work and load testing of this bridge will be done by the end of November, informed a Dilip Buildcon Ltd official.

There is good news for Goans who travel daily on the old Zuari Bridge to cross over to North Goa and vice versa, facing traffic woes. The new cable-stayed Zuari Bridge is likely to be made operational by mid-December this year.

Deogonda Patil, the deputy project manager of the cable-stayed Zuari Bridge, informed us that almost 95 per cent of the work of this project has been completed and only some minor finishing work remains.

Giving more details about the concluding work, Patil said that miscellaneous work such as the installation of the hand railing, crash barrier and service lane is pending and will be completed within 15 days. He added that after the completion of these works, cable fine-tuning, force monitoring of cables and load testing of the bridge will be done in the final stage by the end of November.

Later, when asked about the new Zuari Bridge being opened to traffic, Patil said that there are chances that it will happen by mid-December, but it will solely depend on the local government.
