PANAJI: Puneet Goel, Principal Secretary, praised the Goa State Fire Force Training Center for having achieved National recognition for imparting training to government and non-government organisations and for conducting sub-officers on behalf of National Fire Service College, Ministry of Home Affairs.
He was speaking after inspecting the 32nd annual inspection parade of the Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services held at the Goa State Fire Force Training Ground, St Inez, Panaji on Saturday.
Further he also stated that the government is supporting the procurement of sophisticated equipment for fire fighting and life rescue in high rise building and also for handling of major disasters.
The 32nd annual inspection day parade is an annual event to test the overall operational fitness level of the fire personnel for prompt response in the event of any emergency. Certificates and trophies were handed over to the winners of the drill competition and winners of annual sports meet on the occasion.
Ravi Jha, Special Secretary Home and Amarsen Rane, Additional Secretary Home also graced the occasion.
Ashok Menon, Director, Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services inspected the annual parade and the best turns out fire personnel from various ranks were selected for the best turn out awards. First place for squad drill, ladder drill and tug of war was awarded to Fire Force Headquarters and pump drill to Ponda Fire Station. Best turn out was awarded to Dilip Bicholkar, station fire officer, sub-officer Damodar D Zambaulikar , leading fire fighter Krishna C Naik, driver operators Shailesh T Patnekar, Damodar Rao, Motiram Govekar, fire fighters Shailesh C Paingitkar, Suresh Gaonkar, Suraj Prabhugaonkar, Hitesh Parab, Gauresh R Phadte, Sairaj R Naik, Shailesh. G Tari and Gango B Lambor.
Ashok Menon, Director, Fire & Emergency Services in his welcome address stated that the annual inspection parade is an important occasion for the department wherein the administrative superior has an opportunity to critically scrutinize the performance efficiency of the departments operational units.
He further apprised the dignitaries regarding the various activities carried out by the department in the field of fire fighting, fire prevention, fire protection and training in the State of Goa.
Exhibition of ladder drill event was carried out by the Fire Force Headquarters fire personnel crew, which was excellently executed within a timing of 53 seconds. Ajit Kamat, asst divisional officer, North Zone welcomed and proposed a vote of thanks.
