Traders, vendors and other business owners in the port town are upbeat as they gear up to celebrate the annual 124th Shri Damodar Bhajani Saptah for which various cultural programmes are lined up.

The Saptah celebrations went missing for the last two years due to the Covid-19 restrictions.

Over the last two days, work of setting up stalls and makeshift structures, especially on the Swantantrapath, is going on in full swing.

According to Shri Damodar Saptah Utsav Committee Secretary Santosh Khorjuvekar, a grand programme of devotional and classical songs of Pt Jayateertha Mevundi will be held next to Shri Damodar temple at 7 pm on August 2, which is Naga Panchami day.

On August 3, the Bajarkar group will enthral people with devotional songs to be performed by Goan vocal artists like Pandurang Raul, Pralhad Gawas and Vitthal Shirodkar.

The final programme of devotional songs and 'abhangas' will be performed by Amit Badve, near Natraj theatre Vasco, on August 3, at around 10 pm, informed Khorjuvekar.

The Bhajani Saptah rituals and devotional singing inside Shri Damodar temple will be held non-stop for 24 hours keeping in tune with the spirituality of the event.
