The police seized over tonnes of banned tobacco products worth Rs 8.48 lakhs from a warehouse in North Goa's Bicholim on Sunday, January 30.
According to sources in police department, the officials raided a warehouse at Karapur Sarvan and seized various types of Tobacco products, including gutkha, worth Rs 8.48 lakhs which was stored up in the warehouse illegally.
The police have registered the case against the shopkeeper under the Section 87(f) of Goa Daman and Diu Public Health Act 1985.
The team was led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Sagar Ekoskar, PI Mahesh Gadekar and Sub-Inspector Karishma Parulekar and the Bicholim police are further investigating the case.
