Senior citizen found dead in his home at Varca

An 80-year-old senior citizen was found brutally murdered at his residence in Varca on Thursday night.

According to the Colva Police, the victim has been identified as Trinade Martins. He was staying alone at his residence, and was found dead at his residence on Thursday. There were several wounds on his body.

The police said that the door of the house was open when the unknown person came into the house and assaulted the victim with an iron rod that caused the serious injuries.

Colva Police Inspector Melson Colaco and team rushed to the spot when they were alerted about the incident. They soon began the search and recovered the rod that was used for the murder.

Police have registered an offence under the Section 302 of IPC. The police later on shifted the body to the South Goa District Hospital, Margao for the post mortem examination.

The police are still searching for the exact motive of the murder.
