A 57-year-old woman was found dead in her house at Orcotto, Sanguem on Tuesday.
The victim has been identified as Bharati Samant. Sangueem PI Pravenen Gawas said that the woman was living alone after her husband passed away 16 years ago. She operated a grocery shop attached to her house.
When neighbours notice the shop had been closed since Sunday evening, one of the villagers tried to contact her on phone. Since there was no contact, he called the police.
When the police broke open the door, they found her lying dead on the floor.
According to the police, the body has been sent for a post-mortem to find out any foul play is involved in the death.
The brother of the victim has demanded a thorough investigation.
