Adinew and Satovisha win 12th SKF Goa River Marathon

Adinew Mekonnen of Ethiopia and Satovisha Samajdar of Raipur (Chattisgarh) won the men's and women’s 42 km full marathon, respectively, at the 12th SKF Goa River Marathon held at Chicalim near Vasco on Sunday.

While Adinew clocked a very quick 2:41:18 hours, Satovisha clocked 4:09:42 hours.

In the 21 km half-marathon race, Siddesh Barje of Dapoli (Maharashtra) and Sapna Patel of Vasco (Goa) won the men's and women’s categories, respectively.

Siddesh clocked 1:13:38 hours and pipped Nihal Baig, the recently crowned IRONMAN 70.3 Goa champion by only 12 seconds, while Sapna won her race clocking 1:31:21 hours.

In the 10 km open category, Pradhan Kirulkar of Kolhapur, with a timing of 34:10 minutes, and Farheen Firdose of Bengaluru, with a timing of  42:16 minutes, won the men's and women’s categories of the race.

In the newly introduced under-15 age group, 5 km inter-school category race, Murgaon High School won the boys' team event. Vidya Vihar High School won the girls' team event. Vikas Pal of Murgaon High School was the fastest boy in the 5 km category, clocking 20:59 minutes, while Achal Giri, also of Murgaon High School, was the fastest girl, clocking 29:59 minutes.
