Udanata Singh's double with Iman Basafa penalty propelled Bengaluru FC to a 3-0 victory over Chennaiyin FC on Wednesday, January 27.

The Blues has registered their fourth victory as the playoff race heats in the 2021-22 Indian Super League (ISL).

Bengaluru FC is now unbeaten in seven consecutive matches, as they have recorded three wins and four draws. Chennaiyin suffered its fifth defeat. After 13 games, the Marina Machans remained at the fifth position with 18 points.

Bengaluru's early lead

After a frantic start, the Blues were awarded an early penalty as Sunil Chhetri was fouled in the box. Iman Basafa took the spot-kick to score his maiden ISL goal at the 12-minute mark.

Chhetri also contributed to the second goal as he went past players to break the Chennaiyin defence. The 37-year-old passed the ball to Udanata Singh to score the second goal for the Blues.

Soon after the break, Udanata strengthened Bengaluru's position by scoring his eleventh individual goal. Sajid Dhot made a mess of a simple clearance as Udanata Singh rolled the ball into the back of the net.
