Goa Police Cup: Panaji Footballers will take on Calangute Association in the second semifinal

Panaji Footballers will face Calangute Association in the second semi-finals of the 17th Goa Police Cup after the former defeated Guardian Angel SC 5-2 in the third quarterfinal on the back of a stellar four-goal performance by Irfan Yadav on Monday.

Irfan started the match with a bang as he scored the first goal in the 12th minute. Guardian Angel's Johnson Horta equalized in the 21st minute. But Irfan put Panaji ahead with his second goal in the 35th minute. Panaji Footballers were leading 2-1 at the break.

In the second half, Joyson Gaonkar strengthened Panaji Footballers' lead to 3-1 in the 68th minute. Soon Irfan scored his third goal and completed his hat trick in the 73rd minute. Then at the 90th-minute mark, Irfan added a fourth goal to his tally, sealing the victory for the Panaji side. Nicolas Rodriguez scored a consolation goal for Guardian Angel in the 90 + 1 minute as they lost 5-2.

Churchill Brothers vs Calangute Association

Churchill Brothers took an early lead as Bryce Miranda scored in just six minutes. The red machines soon doubled their lead as Vikas converted a penalty kick in the 15th minute.

After an intense 15 minutes of play, the Calangute Association scored their first goal thanks to Harshad Naik. Then after the break, Calangute's Moses Disa levelled the score at 2-2 in the 52nd minute. No team could convert any chances later in the second half and the match ended as a draw.

Finally, after an entertaining 8-7 penalty shootout, Calangute Association emerged as winners.
