FC Goa obliterates Chennaiyin FC in a 5-0 thumping at Tilak Maidan in Vasco on Wednesday in the ongoing Indian Super League (ISL).
Makan Chothe opened the scoring to set up for the Jorge Ortiz show. The Spaniard scored a hat trick with goals at 20th, 41st and 53rd minute respectively. Chennaiyin defender Narayan Das scored an own goal at the 45 + 1-minute mark.
FC Goa registered their first three points after a five-game winning draught. Gaurs remain ninth on the table with 18 points after 16 games as they complete their double over the Super Machans this season. Consequently, Chennaiyin FC remained eighth in the standings with 19 points after 16 matches.
Gaurs Goals Galore
Derrick Pereira's team returned to the field after a nine-day break as they looked sharp from the kickoff. The Gaurs scored their first goal in the fifth minute as Aibanbha Dohling's cross found Makan Chothe, who slotted the ball in the bottom right corner. FC Goa continued their assault as Jorge Ortiz scored his first goal in the 20th minute with a close-range shot in the left-top corner.
The Gaurs continue to race through the Chennaiyin defence as Ortiz hit his second goal in the 40th minute. Minutes before the half-time, Chennai defender Narayan Das dived to clear the ball but deflected the ball into the goal to take the score to 4-0. The Spaniard completed his hat trick in the 53rd minute thanks to Aiban Dohling's second assist of the game. Goan goalkeeper Dheeraj Singh secured his first clean sheet of the 2021-22 season.
Fifth hat-trick of the season
Jorge Ortiz became the fifth player to score a hat-trick in the 2021-22 Indian Super League. Earlier, Jamshedpur's Greg Stuart, Northeast United's Deshorn Brown, Hyderabad's Bartholomew Ogbeche and ATK Mohan Bagan's Kian Nasiri had also scored hat tricks this season.

Jorge Ortiz won the Hero of the Match after a scintillating hat trick against the Super Machans. Ortiz was elated with this victory as he said, "I'm very happy for the team because we come from a difficult situation and we are happy that we got the three points. I'm very happy for me and for the team. Top-four remains a possibility and we need to try and win the next."
FC Goa head coach Derrick Pereira, also expressed his delight with the victory. He said, "Very happy about the performance and the result. We were looking out for this result for a long time. Before the match, there was a process in place and this result will help us to do well in the remaining matches."
