FC Goa defeated Young Boys of Tonca 8-0 in the Women's League Football Tournament at Duler Stadium in Mapusa on Friday.
Velani Fernandes scored four goals in the match to give FC Goa three vital points in the tournament.
The Gaurs dominated from the start as Velani, playing in the middle, scored the first goal in the 20th minute. She scored again in the next two minutes. Namita Govekar made an accurate header to end the first half at 3-0.
Velani completed her hat-trick shortly after the start of the second half. Alisha Tawaris scored in the 64th minute and Namita in the 68th minute to give FC Goa a 6-0 lead. Velani scored her fourth individual goal in the 87th minute. Arpita Pednekar concluded the carnage after scoring the eighth goal to seal the victory for FC Goa.
