Sporting Club de Goa blowout Ambelim 9-1 to win Futsal tournament

Sporting Clube de Goa beat Ambelim Sports Club 9-1 to win the Goa Football Association's first state-level futsal tournament. The final match was played at Chowgule Futsal Court at Ghogal-Margao.

Sporting Clube is now eligible to represent Goa at the All India Football Federation National Futsal competition.

Ambelim was all over Sporting in the first half, as no one could score. In the second half, Sporting went all guns blazing with attacking football. Just in a minute after the break, Lloyd Cardoz gave Sporting the lead and then completed his hat-trick in the next five minutes.

Lloyd was unstoppable as he scored two more goals after Marcus Mascarenhas scored two. Sporting had a strong seven-goal lead. Sporting continued dominating as Alton Vaz and Clive Miranda scored one goal each. Towards the end of the match, Ambelim's Lyndon Cardoz scored their only goal.

Sporting's Lloyd Cardoz was the player of the match of the final scoring five goals. In the tournament, Sporting's Marcus Mascarenhas was given the best striker award, Ozen Silva was felicitated with the best goalkeeper award and Clive Miranda was the best defender. The winning team was given Rs 30,000 whereas the runner-ups were given Rs 20,000.

The prizes were distributed in the presence of Goa Football Association President MLA Churchill Alemao, Vice President Anthony Pango, Futsal and Beach Futsal Committee President Babli Mandrekar, Co-President John Silva, Sukkur Vaz and GFA Executive Committee members.
