Goa was India’s dream beach destination this summer: OYO Mid-Summer Vacation Index 2022
As the summer vacay nears an end in Goa, OYO global travel technology company's Mid-Summer Vacation Index 2022 brought cheers to Goa Tourism as the survey reveals Goa to be a dream beach destination for Indian travellers.
According to the consumer travel and trends, OYO found that over 61% of Indian travellers planned to take vacations in the summer, and with 58.7% upvotes, Goa appeared to be the dream destination for Indian travellers.
INDEX REVEALED
The index also revealed that despite international borders being open, the survey found that 94% of travellers have a strong preference to travel domestically.
Nearly, 31% travellers wanted to travel to beaches in the summer, followed by the riverside, and waterfalls.
54.1% Indian consumers wanted beach destinations over cooler hillside destinations.
BEACHES OF GOA
Interestingly, the index also discovered that over 30% consumers preferred to witness their dream sunset on ‘any beach in Goa’, followed by Dal Lake in Kashmir, Taj Mahal in Agra, among others.
With over 53% upvotes, the beach state emerges as travellers’ favourite beach destination in India.
CHANGING TRAVEL PATTERN
SVP – Product and Chief Service Officer – OYO, Shreerang Godbole, revealed some interesting findings about travellers. He said, “We have already had two record-breaking festive weekend bookings in April. Over the Good Friday and Vishu week, we received 8 lakh bookings, the highest ever in 2022, surpassing New Year's.”
He further said that due to the changes in travel owing to the pandemic in the background, people are now open to taking smaller breaks, working from a scenic location or even making their travel bookings at the very last minute.
Godbole adds, “Given this trend, Goa has emerged as one of the most popular beachside destinations among city folks. Alongside these trends, consumers are now looking for higher personalisation and flexibility -- when it comes to digital payments, easy booking modifications or even support to resolve queries.”
He further states that this trend might “benefit domestic destinations to bounce back, especially the smaller unexplored ones.”
