Looking for offbeat places to visit in Goa? Skip the usual beaches and parties and dive into the heart of authentic Goan culture with the 'Rivona Trail' by Soul Travelling.

Recently, the Gomantak Times Digital team joined this unique experience and discovered that Rivona, a peaceful village in South Goa, offers much more than just scenic beauty. Although it takes about two hours to drive from Panjim, the lush landscapes and rich experiences make it totally worth the journey.

The trail kicks off at Rishivan Farms, owned by the Patil family. Spread over a massive 400 acres, the farm is set up in a terrace farming style. As we strolled through the property, our enthusiastic guide, Pankaj Kamble, shared insightful details about the local produce and sustainable farming methods employed.

The farm is home to seven varieties of bananas, and plantations of pepper (both black and white) and nutmeg. A special highlight? Mr Patil’s nutmeg jam — a rare local delicacy that is exclusively made and sold, here, in Goa.

The trail isn’t just about sightseeing — there’s a hands-on Goan culinary experience, too. We savoured an authentic vegetarian spread including Mango Sasav, Black Bean Burry and banana kappa.

For non-vegetarian fans, there was a rich Chicken Xacuti, prepared darker than usual — a style unique to this region — and crispy Mackerel Fry. We also tried our hand at cooking local favourites like banana kappa, donne (a sweet delight), and wadyachi kismoor.

After a hearty meal and an immersive farm tour, we explored the Rivona Caves, also known as the Buddhist Caves, offering a glimpse into Goa's ancient history.

The final stop was the rock carvings by the Netravali River, a serene and mystical spot perfect for photography and reflection.

Whether you're a Goan, who’s lived in the city all your life or a traveller looking for hidden gems in Goa, this trail is a refreshing escape into the unexplored. With a mix of nature, history, local food and culture, the Rivona Trail is a must-do for those who want to experience the real Goa beyond its beaches.

So, the next time you’re googling 'things to do in Goa' or searching for cultural trails in South Goa, why not consider booking the Rivona Trail with Soul Travelling. Trust us, you won’t be disappointed!
