Goa was in for a veritable treat this weekend at the Cashew Fest 2024, when singer, Dhvani Bhanushali, performed some of her hit songs, getting people to dance like no one was watching.

From songs like Naina Milayke and Thank You God, which are currently trending on social media, Dhvani rocked the stage at the festival.

Cashew is Goa’s legacy kept alive by farmers and not festivals

Apart from making waves on the internet with her first song, Vaaste (2019), which topped the global Top 200 list, she has also sung Leja Re, Ishare Tere, Baby Girl, Nayan and Radha, creating a fan following for herself among the desh ki jaanta.

Talking about her trip to Goa, she says she loves the atmosphere here. “It's so calming and relaxing. Every time I come here, I feel like my body slows down and it tries to breathe, and it tries to really appreciate the beauty of the place."

"There's something about Goa, and I really like how people are so warm and the food is great. I really like the food, the water and the air. I’ve got such great memories from my childhood and with my friends. So every time I come here, I have a great time. I love Goa,” she shares.

Though she has never written a song about Goa, she shot the scenes for her music video, Baby Girl, in the State.

Baby Girl was shot in Goa. The whole video, how picturesque it is and how beautiful Goa made the video look -- that contribution has been phenomenal in terms of my music career,” she says and adds, “Whenever I visit again, maybe we'll do a camp there, where we make a set of songs, I really hope to.”

Talking about the beauty of Goa, she spoke about how we need to be mindful of the trash that is created.

This old well in Goa holds the mysteries of love

“I feel that environmentally, Goa is maintained so beautifully by the government. It’s fantastic how so many people come every year, and still it's the way it is. So, I just feel like all of us, who are not living in Goa, should be mindful.”

Though many youngsters love the nightlife here in Goa, Dhvani is a little different.

“I'm not a party person, but I really like this one place that I had been to, Cape Goa. I love to watch the sunset, eat amazing food, lie down and read. I love Thalassa, too. I love good dinners. Otherwise, I don't really party much," she mentions.

"Sad, but that's how I am,” laughs Dhvani, as she signs off.
