In Kabir’s words, “The reason to start something like this in Goa was because I wanted to educate the new generation with new ideas that are more grounded and go beyond technology.”
What began as an idea for a pet farm evolved into this vibrant haven when they couldn’t find the right space. Kabir recalls, “We were not getting space to open something like that, so my partner Anil said, why not start a cafe with the same concept — and that’s how Bouncing Buddies came into existence.”
For Anil’s son, Ayaan Agrawal, who interns at the centre, the drive and interest struck during a family trip to Japan. “He and his family first saw this sort of thing when they visited Japan, and they were all fascinated. That’s how he told his dad 'we need to do something like this back home',” Kabir recalls.
Step inside, and you’ll be surprised by how clean and hygienic the space is — so much so that you might even ask yourself: 'Are there really animals here?'
But walk into the Sanctuary Zone, and you’re greeted by a charming variety of creatures — guinea pigs, hedgehogs, rabbits and more.
Some guests walk in with apprehension, but Kabir has made it his mission to change that. “I have visitors who are afraid of the animals, but before they leave, I ensure they are either comfortable or less afraid of the animals,” he says with a smile.
More than just a cafe, Bouncing Buddies is also an educational centre, and the team is deeply passionate about their work. One of the founding team members, Harsh Chowgule, says, “I love animals. I know each of them very well and have personally named them.”
The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to share fun facts and stories about their furry companions.
The interiors reflect a raw, personal touch. Harsh mentions, “Some of the tables have been personally painted by Kabir himself.”
“I wanted to keep the place very rustic and not aesthetic,” shares Kabir. Everything here is built in-house, giving it a charm that feels both homemade and heartfelt.
And, the experience doesn’t stop with the animals. A retro-themed gaming room adds a playful twist — perfect for testing your hand-eye coordination. Then there’s the messy art room, where workshops in art, pottery and more allow you to get creatively messy and joyfully unplugged.
One of the most beautiful aspects of Bouncing Buddies is that it’s open to people of all ages. Kabir affirms, “There is no age limit to enter the petting zone or even play.”
