The opening film, The King of All the World, was screened yesterday in the evening on all the screens of INOX, after the inaugural function of 52nd IFFI at Dr. Shyma Prasad Mukherjee Stadium ,Talegaon.
The Spanish movie, which is a musical about a musical, tells the story of a stage director Manuel who hires his ex-wife, a renowned choreographer and a young dancer to star in the play. The movie uses the facility of powerful Mexican music to set the tone and a play is produced in which tragedy, fiction and reality intertwine.
After the screening, Gomantak Times interacted with the producer and assistant producer of the film Eusebio Pacha and Mirta Renne.
What made you to make this film?
One day I was having lunch with Mr. Carlos Saura (director) , when I proposed Saura to do something about music in Mexico .After some discussions, we decided to make a film. Mexico provides a strong platform for all art and film industry, specially dance and music .Further Mexico is like India with respect to Latin America ,so far as dance, music, folkdance and colourful lights are concerned.
Why did you choose Storaro Vittorio as the cinematographer for this film?
There is no one else who can express in light colour cinematography. He has won 3 scars and one nomination of Oscar. He is a highly acclaimed cinematographer. Also he is the Lifetime time Achievement awardee in last IFFI held at Goa.
Why did you name this film as The King of All the World?
This is the name of the popular legendary song, which Carlos Saura used to listen when he was a kid.
Has this film been shown in any other country ?
No. This film however entered in the “Festival International de Cine en Guadarlaja”, in Mexico on 4 Oct 2021.Incidentally this film was made in the same place.
Is it your first visit to India?
Yes, we arrived here on 20th Nov 2021 and going back on 23 rd Nov 2021.
What is your next project?
I wish to make another film with the same team with title, “Pisaco Dora Mar y el Gurenica” in Spanish language. I propose to take Mirta Rene as a part of the casting. She is an actress, TV host and dancer from Guetmala. At present she has come with me as interpreter.
How did you like your stay in India?
Excellent, People here are very kind, warm and polite. Food is very delicious. I would like to come here again in fact, I would love to have a co -production in India.
