MOTHER’S TOUCH

Apart from Goan delicacies, Ghargutee is known to serve delicious items for the health-conscious people of Goa. Pradnya Rane, founder of Samaroh A Women Associative Network, says the idea for the business came during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“When we think of health, what could be better than eating mother’s cooking? Home-cooked food, from Ghargutee, adds a healing touch to any ailment,” she says.

“That’s how we chose the brand name, 'Ghargutee', which is synonymous with healthy, homemade food, with no compromise on quality,” she adds.

UNPROCESSED, HEALTHY FOOD

Most of the food products that are sold in the market are over-processed, and thus, have a high glycemic index. It is often prepared with cheap palm oil, or Dalda, which can cause serious health issues. The solution lies in wholesome, healthy, home-style meals prepared with care — and Ghargutee delivers just that.

“We want people to have a guilt-free and healthy experience. Our products are made of pure ghee, refined sunflower oil, and we try to use maximum unprocessed ingredients," says Pradnya.

"We want people to realise the importance of home-cooked food, and make it readily accessible to those unable to prepare it due to whatever reasons,” says Pradnya.

WOMEN POWER

Pradnya realised, during the Covid-19 pandemic, that many home cooks, artists and handcrafters didn’t have the opportunity to market their skills and products.

In order to address this need, she set up the Samaroh A Women’s Associative Network (SWAN), and started hosting events and networking initiatives for women.

The network brings together women entrepreneurs from all over the State, including Taleigao, Panjim, Valpoi, Canacona, Marcel, Keri Ponda, Mollem, Pernem and also other parts of the country like Pune, Belgaum, Sangli, Kolhapur and more.

"As part of our activities under our Trust Samaroh, we collaborate with women-led brands across the country and provide them with marketing support. At present, over 300 women entrepreneurs are associated with us," says Pradnya.
