It’s Carnival time in Goa, and there’s fun and celebrations across the state, with all the major cities – Panjim, Vasco, Mapusa and Margao – organising float parades and special programmes.

In Mapusa, there’s quite a line-up for the 4 days of Carnival featuring food, floats, music and quite a bit of fun and games to keep everyone, from the young ones to the grown-ups, in high spirits.

WHAT’S IN STORE

Mapusa Carnival Festival Committee presents ‘Mapusa Masquerade’ from February 10 to February 13.

For those who love the pulsating beats of live music, a string of popular hits – English, Konkani, pop, jazz – there will be spirited performances from some of Goa’s top bands, while Goa’s nightingale, the legendary Lorna, will regale audiences, too.

Bands that will keep audiences groovin’ are True Blue, Cascades, Take 5ive, The Imperial, Crimson Tide, Forefront, 24k, Double R and Mark Revlon.

Apart from great music, there will be a slew of entertainment, activities and competitions for, both, kids and adults.

In addition to that, there will be dance performances by GIPA, Dance-O-Phillia and Bailadora Dance Squad; Magician and Bubble Act, dance competition for kids, face mask and fancy dress competition.

Before Lord Bodgeshwar, faith matters more than religion

Other attractions to watch out for are stilt walkers, mascots, kids’ zone, games stalls, magicians, face painters, bouncy castle, food stalls, uni-cyclist, jugglers, floor acts and Russian Flamenco among other things.

The lively Zemorah and Alroy will compere the event.
