Whether it’s trekking through hidden trails or exploring lesser-known places, once in a while we all love to take the path off the beaten track. And if that’s on your mind this Goa trip, then here’s telling you how you can be part of some thrilling adventures, untamed wildlife and authentic local experiences that go beyond the usual.
Driven by his belief that the outdoors can help people discover new facets of themselves, Keith Fernandes began Beatroute Explorers along with his wife Lekha who brings her marketing, sustainability and community-driven tourism expertise to the table.
What began five years ago as a passion project is today sought for the unique and immersive adventures it offers.
“Initially I started taking friends and family out in nature. It’s heartening to see the support we got from a now growing community of people who love nature, wildlife, adventure and authentic local experiences. Our adventures are founded on the basis of these experiences,” says Keith, a scuba diving instructor and founder of Beatroute Explorers.
FULL OF ADVENTURE
With beaches on the west and the Western Ghats on the east, the duo, like many travellers, finds that the small State of Goa packs a punch when it comes to nature and wildlife.
“The Ghats really come to life in the monsoon, personally my favourite time of the year in Goa,” says Lekha, who also feels the State is a perfect blend of rich history, cultural heritage and natural beauty.
Beatroute Explorers offers nature trails, waterfall treks, mangrove kayaking, cycling, scuba diving and camping. Their wildlife experiences include night forest walks, monsoon plateau explorations and tide pool walks in the dry season.
The name 'Beatroute Explorers' is inspired by the earthy beetroot and reflects their focus on off-the-beaten-path experiences, with colours drawn from nature.
Led by passionate nature lovers from diverse backgrounds, the guides bring expertise in wildlife, flora, and local culture to every trail. Experiences are also curated with specialists—marine biologists, birding experts, mangrove ecologists, and researchers of khazan and river systems.
While every experience they curate is unique, the jungle pond picnic remains a favourite. This exclusive experience offers something for everyone, from nature lovers to adventure enthusiasts, to kids and parents and even grandparents.
MEANINGFUL EXPLORATION
Beyond creating memorable adventures, Beatroute Explorers designs experiences that are environmentally low-impact and responsible in nature. They encourage carpooling, ask guests to carry their own water bottles and avoid using single-use plastics, taking the ‘leave no trace’ policy very seriously.
With the belief that true sustainability is community-driven, they have modelled their experiences to actively involve local communities. They serve local meals, upskill youth for nature-based tourism, and aim to launch projects that address village-level issues for broader community-upliftment.
“Everything we curate is planned with a conscious lens to conservation and involving local communities wherever possible,” says Keith.
To ensure guests get the most out of their adventure, the booking process takes note of fitness levels and interests in order to recommend the right experience. They cater to small groups of four to larger groups of up to 30, ensuring each person connects deeply with nature.
“We’re most active on Instagram and on our website. While we share a monthly schedule of experiences that anyone can join, we encourage guests to reach out to us directly to curate experiences based on their requirements and schedule,” they add.
So, if you're seeking a memorable and meaningful experience in Goa, book a trip with Beatroute Explorers and let the adventure begin!
