A 35-year-old man was found murdered at an isolated location in Sancoale near Meta Strips on Tuesday morning. Verna police have arrested one person in this matter.
According to sources, the deceased has been identified as Sanjay Yadav, a resident of Zorint, Zuarinagar, and a manual worker at a scrapyard.
"We got information that a dead body was lying buried in construction debris at an isolated location. Verna police immediately rushed to the site and after preliminary investigation suspected it to be a case of murder,” informed the source.
The source further stated that the Verna police later, based on specific intelligence, detained a person allegedly involved in the crime. The detained person has been identified as Kanhayya Lal Yadav, a resident of Zorint.
Sources claimed that the accused is believed to have confessed to the crime. Police inspector Diago Gracias is carrying out further investigation under the supervision of Mormugao DySP Salim Shaikh.
THREE SURRENDER IN ASSAULT CASE
Meanwhile, Fatorda police arrested three more persons, namely Walter Fernandes, Simon Saldhana and Joseph Fernandes, who were absconding in the infamous Vijay Kulal assault case, which had taken place on November 28 midnight at Colva.
The next day, Fatorda police arrested three individuals in this connection, namely Afzal Sheikh (26), Davorlim; Krishna Lohar (23), Vasco; and Rihan Ahmed (21), Seraulim, last month.
On Tuesday, the remaining three persons reportedly involved in the assault surrendered before the Fatorda police. All three had appealed for anticipatory bail earlier which was rejected by the court.
