The majority of domestic tourists who visit Goa feel that it is fine to ignore any rules once in Goa. On Tuesday, an SUV Fortuner car registered in Hyderabad was brought directly on Bogmalo Beach despite it being prohibited by law.

Goa's image outside the state needs a significant revamping, especially in the case of domestic tourists who wrongly believe that immodesty and an unruly way of life is what Goa is all about.

For the past few years, the nuisance caused by tourists is nothing new to Goa and its people. But the rules which are meant to protect the state’s environment and peace need to be adhered to by the natives as well as the visitors who come to Goa to have a good time.

It is absolutely fine to spend money, visit tourist spots and have fun in Goa. But breaking rules by driving your cars on the beaches, etc, which has been strictly prohibited as per the law should not be done at any cost.

One such incident happened on September 11, 2022, at Morjim Beach, which is famous for olive ridley turtle nesting. In this matter, a Morris Garage SUV from Maharashtra was driven on Morjim Beach. Unfortunately, the car got stuck in the wet sand.

The Pernem police then booked the person who brought the car onto the beach. Similarly, on Tuesday, a white Fortuner SUV (TS 08F K 9786) was directly brought onto Bogmalo Beach despite it being prohibited by the law.

Later, speaking to reporters, Sankalp Mahale, the sarpanch of Bogmalo, Chicolna panchayat, said that a local informed him that a car was brought to Bogmalo Beach and being driven.

“When I asked them why they brought this car onto the beach, the tourists from this car informed me that this car belonged to an MLA from Hyderabad. Later, they removed the MLA sticker from the car,” Sankalp Mahale added.

Mahale further said, “We are waiting for the Vasco police inspector and traffic police inspector to reach the site. We demand that strict action needs to be taken in this matter.

If any arrest or any crime needs to be registered then the police should do it because nobody should be allowed to drive cars on the beach. This is the end of the year, and if people start bringing cars on the beaches, it could harm people.”
