U-17 FIFA Women's World Cup timetable unveiled

India will host the event for the first time; Goa to host most matches

The schedule for the upcoming FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup India 2022 has been officially announced, and India is hosting the women's tournament for the first time. The seventh edition of the tournament will kick off on October 11, 2022, and, will end with the finals on October 30, 2022. DY Patil Stadium, in Navi Mumbai; Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, and Nehru Stadium in Goa will share all the tournament matches.

Goa's Nehru Stadium, in Fatorda, will host a maximum of 16 matches in the tournament, including two semi-finals on October 26.

A total of 16 teams are contesting in the biennial youth tournament this year, and the teams are divided into four groups. A total of 32 matches will be played on the above-mentioned three grounds. India will kick start the World Cup journey from Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar, on October 11, 2022. India will play its Group ‘A’ matches on October 11, 14, and 17 in the capital city of Odisha. The official draw will be held on June 24, 2022.

Group Matches will be played from October 11 to 18. There will be 24 group games with 16 participant teams stretched across eight days. The quarter-finals will be played on October 21 and 22 in Goa and Mumbai, and both cities will share two matches each. The final showpiece of the FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup will be played at DY Patil Stadium, in Navi Mumbai.

Participants: India (Host), China PR, Japan, Morocco, Nigeria, Tanzania, Canada, Mexico, United States, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, New Zealand, France, Germany, and Spain.

Nehru Stadium, Fatorda, plays host once again

Nehru Stadium, Fatorda, will be hosting the World Cup for the second time. In 2017, Goa hosted games for the FIFA U-17 Men’s World Cup. Along with group matches, a quarter-final between USA and England was fought at Nehru Stadium, in 2017. This time, Nehru Stadium is all set to host the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2022.
