Veteran journalist Sitaram Tengse, 85, passed away on Tuesday. He was admitted to a private hospital in Margao for treatment for the past few days.

He died in the early hours of Tuesday while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Margao. He is survived by his wife, son, daughter and grandson.

Tengse started his career as a teacher and taught at Nirakar Vidyalaya in Cancona. Later, he taught at Damodar Vidyalaya in Margao.

In 1965, he joined the Daily Gomantwani in Margao and also worked for Daily Rashtramat as editor. Tengse was known for his stylish headlines and active social work.

In 2020, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant bestowed the lifetime achievement award for his immense contribution in the field of Journalism.
