Three people died on the spot near the MES college junction on late Thursday night when the car they were travelling in from Verna to Dabolim met with an accident.

According to the police, five people travelling in the car was speeding on a chain four-lane road. Three died on the spot and the other two were seriously injured and have been shifted to GMC hospital.

Of the five occupants, three were tourists and two were working in Vasco.

The deceased have been identified as Kanan, 24, Nitin Das, 24, and Vishnu, 29, who were all natives from Kerala, where in one of them used to work at Dabolim Airport and the other was in the Indian Navy.

The only two survivors who are in a critical condition have been identified as Vinod Kumar and Akhil.

The exact cause of the accident was not clear. Police is further investigating the matter.
