Colva police on Sunday arrested Jubel Martins, 37, daughter of 80-year-old Trinade Martins, who as found brutally murdered at his residence in Varca on Thursday, February 17 in Varca.
While the police remained tight-lipped about the case's progress and the questioning of his daughter, who lived at her in-laws, the Colva, after a intense interrogation,has placed her daughter under custody.
Martins had a strained relationship with his daughter. They had a dispute over home ownership. As a result, the police suspected that his own daughter had committed the crime.
Police have registered an offence under Section 302 of the IPC for committing murder and under Section 449 of the IPC for criminally trespassing into the house.
According to the Colva Police, the victim was staying alone at his residence, and was found dead at his residence on Thursday.
Later, the police shifted the body to the South Goa District Hospital, Margao for the post mortem examination. There were several wounds on his body.
The police said that the door of the house was open when the person came into the house and assaulted the victim with an iron rod that caused the serious injuries.
