A 41-year-old woman in Vasco set herself ablaze in front of the Vasco police station on Thursday night.
The victim died while undergoing treatment at the Goa Medical College and Hospital at Bambolim on Friday, January 7
The victim has been identified as Manju Singh, resident from Himanchal Pradesh. Following an altercation with her live-in partner, the woman came to the police station and in outburst of anger, she poured diesel and set herself on fire.
According to the police, the victim Manju Singh arrived to the police station at 11 p.m. on Thursday to file a report about a missing acquaintance, believing he was in danger. Police called up on his phone number and told Singh that he was alright. The woman left the police station about 11.40 p.m.
After he returned, both entered into a quarrel and the woman again rushed to the police station and 15 mins later constables at the counter saw the lady had set herself afire and was racing into the complex grounds
Singh was taken in a police van and sent to the Chicalim Sub-District Hospital after the fire was contained. A suicide case has been registered at Vasco police.
The victim Manju Singh had come down to Goa on December 29 and was staying in North Goa along with an acquaintance Sameer Khan, who had dropped her to Vasco.
